Western Digital launches 8TB WD_Black SN8100 for data-hungry enthusiasts

SanDisk boosts its WD_Black SN8100 SSD lineup with new 8TB SSD models

SanDisk has launched new versions of its popular WD_Black SN8100 PCIe 5.0 SSD, adding 8TB models to its PCIe 5.0 SSD model range that are available with and without a heatsink. Previously, this SSD was marketed under the Western Digital brand. Today, this is a SanDisk product, though it retains the “WD_Black” name.

For its new 8TB models, the WD_Black SN8100 can deliver sequential read speeds of up to 14,900 MB/s and sequential writes of up to 13,200 MB/s. It can also provide up to 2.2/2.4 million random read/write IOPS. These new SSDs come with a 5-year limited warranty and an endurance rating of 4,800 TBW. That means that users can rewrite this drive 600 times. That’s a huge number of full rewrites for a consumer-grade SSD.

On SanDisk’s website, their new 8TB WD_Black SN8100 models cost £916.99 and £937.99 for the heatsink-less and with heatsink versions respectively.

These SSDs are for users who require high-capacity drives and demand the highest SSD speeds. Users will include PC enthusiasts, video editors, and other users who may benefit from faster storage solutions. For those who don’t require PCIe 5.0 speeds, 8TB PCIe 4.0 drives are available for less than £600.
