PS4 emulator shadPS4 0.12.6 delivers massive performance boost

Gamers confirm HUGE performance gains with ShadPS4’s new 0.12.6 version

shadPS4, the PlayStation 4 (PS4) emulator, is improving at a rapid pace. With version 0.12.6, players have found that Bloodborne now runs almost twice as fast using the emulator’s new version. This is excellent news for owners of weaker GPUs, as it greatly increases the viability of emulating Sony’s last-generation console.

Bloodborne is the poster child of shadPS4, as it allows the game to be playable outside of Sony’s PlayStation ecosystem. Currently, there are mods that unlock the game’s framerate on PC and improve its visuals. Since Sony and From Software seem uninterested in remastering or re-releasing Bloodborne on PC, emulation is the only way to play the game on the platform.

Not long ago after our latest release we have a new PR merged that give hopes for the upcoming 0.13.0 release . Bloodborne has seen an major speed boost with this as it can also being seen in the videos. There are still places for improvements so keep watching for more updates .

Below is a video from YouTuber tabeneru showcasing shadPS4’s performance gains.

According to shadPS4’s website, the emulator now classifies 13.28% of “tested” PlayStation 4 games as “playable”, with a further 23.68% being “in-game”. While shadPS4 is far from delivering the same kind of emulation experience as more refined emulators like PCSX2 and Dolphin, it cannot be denied that this PS4 emulator is improving at a rapid pace.

Since the PlayStation 4 platform has many exclusives, it is easy to see why there is demand for an emulator. These games deserve to be preserved, and that means making them playable outside of official PlayStation 4 hardware. While Sony’s PS5 can play PS4 games, there is no guarantee that future PlayStation consoles will always support PS4 games. Furthermore, if Sony eventually abandons disk-based games, accessing some of these classic games will become much more challenging, even on official hardware.
