Update Chrome Now – Google patches 13 security vulnerabilities

Update Chrome now to keep your PC secure

Chrome users should update their browsers now. Google Chrome version 143 has been released for Windows, macOS, and Linux and includes 13 security fixes. Four of these security fixes have a “high” severity rating, meaning they pose a high risk to users.

Chrome version 143 will be rolling out to all users over the coming days. However, Chrome users can update their browsers manually to grab these fixes early. External researchers identified several of these security issues, which means several of them are eligible for bug bounties. In total, Google will be paying researchers $18,000 for uncovering several security issues.

The most high-impact vulnerability was uncovered inside Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine. Using manipulated code, hackers could cause the engine to generate memory errors, allowing them to access sensitive information or take over entire systems. Google offered a $11,000 reward for disclosing this vulnerability.

Security Fixes and Rewards

Note: Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed.

This update includes 13 security fixes. Below, we highlight fixes that were contributed by external researchers. Please see the Chrome Security Page for more information.
