Four iconic Final Fantasy games join the GOG Preservation Program

Several Square Enix classics have joined GOG’s game Preservation program

Four classic Final Fantasy games have arrived on GOG, all of which are part of the company’s Game Preservation Program. That means that these games aren’t just DRM-free, they are also validated to work on modern OS’ and will receive ongoing support to ensure that they remain compatible with Windows.

Right now, all four of these new games are available on GOG with a 59-60% discount. These prices will be available until February 7th. Below are the four new games and their prices. As part of the GOG Preservation Program, all four games have had their stability validated on Windows 10/11. Furthermore, they have been given support for modern controllers.

Honestly, it is refreshing to see GOG work to ensure that all of the games on the platform remain functional. While Steam is PC gaming’s most popular storefront, it has its issues. Many older games sold on the platform require mods to function correctly. With GOG, an effort has been made to give gamers a hassle-free experience. If you want older games that “just work”, GOG is often preferable to Steam.
