be quiet Power Zone 2 1200W Power Supply Review

Meet the be quiet Power Zone 2 1200W

Welcome to the POWER ZONE!

Today, we will be looking at be quiet’s new Power Zone 2 power supply, specifically, their 1200W model. With this new PSU, be quiet has promised high levels of efficiency and low noise levels. This PSU is backed by a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty and offers efficiency levels of up to 94.3%.

This PSU is built for high-end gaming PCs, but comes in at a fairly affordable £199.99. For a Platinum-rated PSU, this is a reasonable price, especially for a new PCIe 5.1 unit with dual 12V-2×6 power outputs. But does this PSU live up to its claimed specifications? That’s what we will be testing today.

Overall, the Power Zone 2 is well packaged. The PSU itself is protected by thick cardboard and bubble wrap and is surrounded by the PSU’s bundled cables. These cables are secured together with velcro ties, which can come in handy when managing your PC’s cables. All cables use sleeved black wire and all power connectors are clearly labelled. That’s great news for new PC builders.

BIG fan

One interesting new aspect of the Power Zone 2 series is its inclusion of a 140mm fan. This is a first for a be quiet semi-passive power supply. With this larger fan comes a redesigned grill design, which gives the Power Zone 2 a different look than other be quiet PSUs. This included fan is a 140mm Pure Wings 3 fan, which is designed to keep this PSU cool and quiet under load.

Cybenetics rated this PSU “A” for noise, with an average noise level of 21.62 dBA during testing. This makes this PSU exceptionally quiet, even under load. This makes this PSU a good option for users who want a quiet system.

Dual 12V-2×6 power

Like many modern high-wattage power supplies, the be quiet Power Zone 2 1200W features two PCIe 5.1/12V-2×6 power outputs. Each of these outputs can deliver up to 600W of power. While users won’t be running both of these connectors simultaneously at 600W (this is a 1200W PSU after all), this configuration could be useful for future dual-12V-2×6 power connector GPUs, or for running multiple lower-wattage graphics cards (like in some AI workstations).

Pricing

Today, we are reviewing the 1200W model of be quiet’s Power Zone 2 power supply, which is available from Scan Computers UK for £199.99 at the time of writing. This PSU is also available in 750W, 850W, and 1000W forms. Below are the UK prices for the entire Power Zone 2 range.

Included Cables

The Power Zone 1200W includes a wide range of cables. Included is a 20/24-pin motherboard cable, a 4+4-pin CPU power cable, an 8-pin CPU power cable, two 12V-2×6 power cables (with right-angle power connectors), three 6+2-pin power connectors, seven SATA connectors, and one molex connector. That’s more than enough cables for any modern system.
