Crimson Desert confirmed as AMD’s second “FSR Redstone” game

Crimson Desert will include FSR Upscaling, Frame Generation, and Ray Regeneration at launch

Crimson Desert is coming to PC next month and is set to be AMD’s second “FSR Redstone” game. Currently, the game is part of an AMD game bundle for select Ryzen CPUs and Radeon GPUs, so it makes sense for this game to be packed with AMD Software features.

With AMD Redstone FSR Upscaling and Frame Generation, Crimson Desert will support AMD’s FSR AI upscaler and AI Frame Generation solutions. Additionally, the game supports AMD’s FSR Ray Regeneration feature, delivering more realistic ray-traced lighting and reflections.

Ray Regeneration is a technology that helps AMD deliver realistic ray-traced lighting and reflections. It is a neural-network-based denoiser for ray tracing and path tracing. It requires game integration and can provide improved visual results compared with traditional denoising techniques.

AMD’s FSR Ray Regeneration feature is already available in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, but only in the game’s multiplayer mode. In Black Ops 7, it makes reflections smoother and less noisy, improving image quality. We have other image quality comparisons for this tech in our dedicated article on ray regeneration.

Crimson Desert will lack AMD’s “Radiance Caching” feature, which accelerates ray tracing workloads in supported games. Sadly, AMD fans will have to wait a while longer before they see “Radiance Caching” in a game. However, AMD has stated that this feature will arrive in a game sometime this year.
