Cyberpunk 2077 passes another sales milestone with 40 million copies sold

Cyberpunk 2077 continues to sell well on PC and consoles

CD Projekt Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 40 million copies, showcasing the game’s strong staying power. Last November, CD Projekt Red confirmed that the game had sold 35 million units. Since then, another 5 million players have jumped into Night City. Those are some incredible sales numbers considering the game’s age and lack of recent updates.

While Cyberpunk 2077 has been a hugely successful game, its sales lag behind The Witcher 3. To date, The Witcher 3 has sold over 65 million copies across all platforms. According to Wikipedia, these sales make The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 the 8th- and 19th-best-selling video games.

While a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is reportedly in the works, gamers shouldn’t expect to see the game anytime soon. CD Projekt Red’s focus is on its upcoming The Witcher games. Next year, The Witcher 3 will be receiving a new DLC called “Songs of the Past“. Furthermore, CD Projekt Red’s next big game is a new The Witcher title.

Thankfully, Cyberpunk fans will not have to wait for long for new content. Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 has recently received its second teaser, and it is coming to Netflix later this year.
