UK RTX 5090 prices rise to over double Nvidia’s MSRP

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 pricing has now hit an unprecedented high, with the graphics card selling for more than double Nvidia’s official MSRP. Today, the cheapest RTX 5090 in the UK now costs £3,939.98, which is 119% higher than Nvidia’s official MSRP of £1799.

While Nvidia lists its RTX 5090 at MSRP on its website, clicking “see all buying options” takes you to a page with only two options. These options are ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 GPUs that are priced at £4340 (Non-OC Edition) and £4440 (OC Edition). Both GPU models are priced more than 140% above Nvidia’s MSRP.

Nvidia’s RTX 5090 is the most powerful gaming GPU available, but as it stands, its price makes it unappealing to anyone looking for value for money. At this point, the RTX 5090 isn’t a product for gamers anymore. If you built a gaming PC with an RTX 5090 today, the GPU alone would cost more than everything else in the system, even with today’s RAM prices.

Nvidia’s GeForce Flagship isn’t a gaming GPU anymore

Right now, there is little hope that RTX 5090 GPU prices will decrease anytime soon. The RTX 5090’s usefulness as an AI or workstation GPU has inflated its price. Low memory supply and high memory demand also prevent Nvidia from simply making more RTX 5090 GPUs. That is also part of the reason why the GPU’s price is so high to begin with.

As it stands, the GeForce RTX 5090 isn’t a gaming product. For the same cost, gamers could buy three RTX 5080 GPUs and have money to spare. That’s plenty of gaming performance for most users, and should highlight how poor the RTX 5090’s value proposition is right now.
