Anyone who follows AMD will know who Lisa Su is. She is the current CEO of AMD, the leader who saw the company through some of its toughest years and paved the way towards the company’s newfound success. Over her time as CEO, AMD has been transformed, gaining her a position on the Fortune “World’s 50 Greatest Leaders” list in 2017. 

Under Lisa Su, AMD has executed their CPU comeback with extreme precision, making the company competitive with Intel once more. Beyond that, there are some metrics where AMD is now ahead of its rival, a circumstance that would have seemed impossible when Lisa Su became CEO in 2014. 

Now, it looks like Lisa Su has plans to leave AMD behind, at least according to a report from Wccftech. While this site has a certain reputation for false rumours, their writer Usman Pirzada has a track record of breaking stories regarding executive movements within AMD. With this record in mind, his report about AMD’s CEO should be taken seriously, but not be considered as truth. That said, Lisa Su’s plans could change, as could the plans of the company which she intends to lead in the future. 

Rumour has it that Lisa Su wants to become CEO of IBM, and is currently eyeing up the company’s #2 position. In time, she hopes to take over from current CEO and President Ginni Rometty. 

This report comes after Rick Bergman was brought into AMD as executive vice president of Computing and Graphics. Bergman is reportedly being considered as a candidate for Lisa Su’s replacement, with his experience as CEO of Synaptics and work within AMD and ATI making him an excellent candidate.   
 
Tomorrow, Lisa Su is set to launch the company’s EPYC “ROME” series of Zen 2 processors, acting as Su’s crowning achievement. With ROME, AMD is now competitive within the server market, challenging Intel in terms of both performance and power efficiency. This move will secure AMD increased market share and significant growth in quarterly earnings. This move will secure Lisa Su’s legacy as one of AMD’s greatest CEOs.
