Noctua to sell Carbice IP90 Carbon Nanotube thermal pads for AMD Ryzen CPUs

Noctua’s NT-CP1 thermal pads claim to improve with use

At Computex 2026, Carbice, the producer of carbon nanotube thermal interface materials (TIMs) has partnered with Noctua to sell its new IP90 thermal pads. These new thermal pads will become available in September as Noctua’s NT-CP1 AM5/4, which are validated for AMD AM4/AM5 CPUs.

What’s special about these carbon nanotube thermal pads is that they improve with use. While traditional thermal pastes become less effective over time, these thermal pads become more effective over hundreds and thousands of thermal cycles. Over time, the pad’s carbon nanotubes will incrementally conform to the surfaces of your CPU and cooling solution, as well as their microstructures. This means that these pads will offer better cooling performance over time.

These thermal pads promise PC builders a hassle-free installation and maintenance-free use. No reapplication is necessary, no monitoring, no degradation.

AMD is shipping these new Carbice Carbon Nanotube thermal pads with its newly re-released Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPUs, giving users a premium experience.

Noctua has stated that they are excited to bring Carbice’s thermal pads to market. Noctua also stated that they will “collaborate with Carbice on future R&D”. These thermal pads are ideal for use cases where users don’t want to repaste their CPUs. These pads simplify system maintenance by avoiding traditional thermal pastes.

Sadly, Noctua and Carbice have not unveiled the price of their new NT-CP1 AM5/4 thermal pads. They will become available in September 2026.
