AMD confirms Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX Specs through its website

AMD details its 96-core Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX CPU

AMD has officially unveiled the full specifications of its flagship Threadripper processor, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX. With 96 Zen 5 cores and a TDP of 350W, this CPU is a beast, and it’s coming to the workstation/desktop CPU market next month.

With its Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series, AMD are giving its customers a straight-up Zen 5 upgrade. This generation doesn’t come with higher core counts, but it ships with architectural advancements, support for faster memory, and higher clock speeds.

Below are the specifications of AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9950WX. Alongside its Zen 5 architectural enhancements, AMD’s new Threadripper flagship boasts a 300 MHz higher boost clock and support for DDR5 memory speeds of up to 6400 MT/s. That’s a 23% increase in memory speed!

AMD claims that its new Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series CPUs provide up to 22% more performance than its Zen 4 counterparts. This is thanks to AMD’s new Zen 5 CPU cores, which AMD claims deliver 16% IPC gains over Zen 4, higher memory speeds, and increased CPU core clock speeds.

Note that Zen 5 also deliver enhanced AVX-512 support with its full 512-bit datapath. This is very useful for AVX-512 users, as this change should give Zen 5 CPU users a higher-than-average performance boost.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper VS Threadripper PRO

AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 9000 lineup is split into Threadripper PRO 9000 WX and Threadripper 9000 X series processors. The Threadripper PRO series comes with a larger range of core count options and supports “AMD PRO” Technologies”. Additionally, PRO series Threadripper CPUs support eight DDR5 memory channels, enabling additional DRAM capacity and bandwidth. Furthermore, Threadripper PRO CPUs support more PCIe lanes.

While AMD’s new Threadripper/Threadripper PRO range may be a straight Zen 4 to Zen 5 upgrade, AMD has managed to deliver a solid leap in CPU performance.

Expect AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series CPUs to become available in July 2025.
