AMD launches its Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series CPUs with unchanged pricing
AMD’s Ryzen 9000 Threadripper (Non-Pro) CPUs are launching without a price increase
AMD has officially unveiled its Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series processors, filling the gap between AMD’s standard Ryzen processors and its recently released Threadripper PRO lineup. Better still, these CPUs launch with the same pricing as their Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series counterparts. That means Threadripper users will receive a significant value boost.
These new Zen 5 CPUs will become available on July 31st. At launch, these CPUs will be available as 24-core, 32-core, and 64-core processors. All of these CPUs will feature a TDP of 350W and boost clock speeds of 5.4 GHz. Below are the specifications of AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series CPUs and their US pricing.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper VS Threadripper PRO
So what’s the difference between Threadripper and Threadripper PRO? AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper CPUs support AMD’s TRX50 chipset and offer users 4-channel memory support. AMD’s Threadripper PRO CPUs also support AMD’s TRX50 chipsets, though they can deliver an enhanced feature set when used with AMD’s premium WRX90 chipset. Using WRX90, Threadripper PRO CPUs support eight memory channels and up to 148 PCIe lanes (128 of which are PCIe 5.0).
AMD’s Threadripper (non-PRO) 9000 CPUs support up to 1TB of DDR5-6400 of RDIMM memory, with Threadripper PRO 9000 CPUs supporting double that. Ryzen Threadripper CPUs also support 92 PCIe lanes on TRX50, 48 of which are PCIe 5.0.
With the Ryzen Threadripper 9000, AMD is offering its users a Zen 5 CPU core upgrade without increasing their prices. With that comes faster DRAM support, higher clock speeds and AMD’s Zen 5 architectural enhancements. That’s a win for AMD users.
