MSI has showcased their MPG X870E CARBON WIFI motherboard, and it is ready to ultra-powerful GPUs
MSI showcases their next-generation motherboard technology at Gamescom
MSI has showcased their new MPG X870E CARBON WIFI, and it contains a large range of interesting features. For starters, the motherboard features a beefy 18+2+1 power phase design, featuring 110A power stages. Beyond that, this board supports up to 192GB of DDR5 storage across its four DIMM slots, and claims to support speeds of up to DDR5-8000.
Connectivity-wise, MSI has claimed that this motherboard supports both WIFI 7 and 5Gb LAN, making this motherboard ideal for any modern wired or wireless network. Furthermore, this board boasts two USB4 (40Gbps) ports on its rear I/O.

One interesting addition to this motherboard is the addition of a PCIe 8-pin power connector at its base. This dedicated power connector is for feeding this motherboard’s PCIe lanes. This ensures that MSI is ready for the upcoming release of ultra-power-hungry graphics cards and powerful add-on cards.
At the top of this motherboard are two 8-pin EPS/CPU power connectors, ensuring that this motherboard has enough power for any compatible Ryzen processor.

Tonnes of connectivity for the MSI MPG X870E CARBON WIFI
Below we can see the rear I/O of MSI’s new MPG X870E CARBON WIFI motherboard. We can see that this motherboard supports both 2.5G and 5G ethernet, and features seven 10G USB Type-A ports and two 10G USB Type-C ports. Additionally, this board features an HDMI output, two USB4 (40G) ports, and various audio outputs. We also have various motherboard control buttons.
Currently, we expect AMD X870/X870E motherboards to launch next month. That said, we have not received official confirmation of this from AMD. 800-series AMD motherboards are certainly launching this year, though exactly when remains unconfirmed.
