New AMD Ryzen X3D CPU spotted with ASUS B850 motherboard

New AMD Ryzen X3D CPU spotted with an ASUS motherboard

A new AMD Ryzen CPU has been spotted. HXL has shared a screenshot of an ASUS B850 motherboard that shows it running an AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU. This CPU is reportedly a faster version of AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D, the company’s fastest gaming processor.

Based on prior leaks, this CPU features a boost clock speed 400 MHz higher than AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D. That’s a 7.69% increase in boost clock speed. Recently leaked Passmark scores also suggest that the CPU is around 4.7% faster than its predecessor in single-threaded and multi-threaded performance.

Even with its clock speed boost, AMD’s Ryzen 7 9850X3D isn’t exactly an upgrade over their existing X3D flagship. That said, these speed gains make AMD’s newest X3D CPU a more compelling upgrade option for Ryzen 7 7800X3D and non-X3D AMD CPU users. It also improves AMD’s position against Intel in the gaming CPU space.

AMD’s website recently confirmed the existence of its Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU. As such, it feels like it is only a matter of time before AMD officially unveils this processor. There are also reports of a Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 CPU. However, a lack of benchmark leaks and other information about this CPU makes its existence far from confirmed.
