AMD confirms Radeon RX 8600 and RX 8800 RDNA 4 GPUs in ROCm update
AMD lists two new Radeon GPUs through ROCm patches
AMD is due to reveal a new lineup of Radeon graphics cards at their CES 2025 keynote, but until now, AMD has revealed nothing about their next-gen GPUs. Now, thanks to an update to their ROCm Software (as spotted by Videocardz), we have the names of two new Radeon GPUs. AMD’s next-generation GPU lineup is the RX 8000 series, which will have RX 8800 and RX 8600 models.
How do we know that these are new GPUs? They use AMD’s “gfx12” architecture. For context, gfx11 is AMD’s shorthand term for its RDNA 3 graphics architecture. With this in mind, it makes sense that AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs will use the GFX12 name, especially if these GPUs are also listed as RX 8000 series models. However, we think it is likely that AMD’s names will include and XT, at the end. This would make AMD’s new RDNA 4 GPUs the RX 8800 XT and RX 8600 XT.
Recent rumours also support this naming scheme. Seasonic’s PSU calculator was recently updated to include AMD’s Radeon RX 8800 XT GPU.

Currently, the specifications of AMD’s Radeon RX 8000 series GPUs remain unknown. However, the RX 8800 XT will reportedly deliver RX 7900 XT/XTX levels of rasterisation performance, and deliver a huge bump in ray tracing performance. With these changes, AMD aims to gain market share with aggressive GPU pricing in 2025.
