MSI reveals angled 12V-2×6 power adapters at CES 2024

MSI plans to launch angled PCIe 5.1 GPU power adapters this year

At CES 2024, MSI has showcased 180-degree PCIe 5.1 (12V-2×6) power adapters for RTX 40 series graphics cards. These adapters are designed to handle up to 600 watts of power, and to give the PCs that use them a cleaner look.

Using this 180-degree adapter, users can prevent their GPU power connectors from pressing against the side of their PC case. This adaptor also eliminates the need for any unnecessary cable bending.

MSI has claimed that their new adapter has a “current overvoltage protection mechanism” that ensures that current flows only when the connected wiring is fully installed. The adapter also utilises an 8-layer PCB with 2oz thickened copper material to help dissipate any heat build-up.

At CES, MSI were not able to tell us the release date or pricing of these new 12V-2×6 power adapters. We expect to hear more about these adapters within the next few months.

MSI has announced a huge amount of hardware at CES 2024. So far we have seen a large amount of Limited Edition Monster Hunter hardware, a next-gen 240Hz 4K OLED monitor called the MPG 321URX 4K 240Hz QD-OLED, and MSI’s lineup of RTX 40 series graphics cards.
