Nvidia confirms that its Blackwell Black Screen investigation is ongoing

Nvidia has no timeline for Blackwell black screen and BSOD issues

Over on the Nvidia Forums, as spotted by Tom’s Hardware, an Nvidia representative has confirmed that the company are still investigating Blackwell BSOD and black screen issues. Sadly, the company has no timeline for a fix. This is almost two weeks after the company first confirmed that they were “investigating” the issue.

Many GeForce users hope that these issues would be addressed with their RTX 5070 launch driver (GeForce 572.47). Unfortunately, this was not the case.

Manuel, an Nvidia representative, has confirmed that they have been able to reproduce the issue internally. However, the company has not completed their testing.

Below, Manuel also revealed that he didn’t know if a driver update or a VBIOS update would fix the issue. The former option would be an easy fix for users. The latter would be a lot more challenging.

So far, Nvidia’s RTX 50 series has had one of the worst product launches in the company’s history. Product availability is an issue. Some RTX 5090 and RTX 5070 Ti GPUs have “missing ROPS.” Even Nvidia’s 16-pin GPU power standard has remained problematic. Add on Black Screen issues, and there is a lot of reasons for GPU buyers to be angry at Nvidia. Let’s hope that these issues can be resolved soon.
