Nvidia partners expect their RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 to launch this year

Nvidia’s hardware partners expect next-generation GPUs to launch this year

It has long been rumoured that Nvidia’s RTX 50 series of Blackwell-based graphics cards are launching this year. Even so, Nvidia has remained tight-lipped about their next-generation product launch. Now, board partners are preparing for Nvidia to launch both their RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 this year. Specifically, these GPUs reportedly launching in Q4 2024.

With this launch, Nvidia are focusing on the high-end of the GPU market. That’s why Nvidia’s RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs are launching first. Lower-end models are due to arrive in 2025. Well, assuming that Nvidia doesn’t change their plans.

Below is what Money UDN had to say about Nvidia’s product release plans.

Board card manufacturers expect that Nvidia’s latest RTX 50 series graphics cards will be unveiled in the fourth quarter. Initially, they will focus on top-end and high-end 5090 and 5080 product lines. Analysts is optimistic that the launch of Nvidia’s biennial GPU refresh will help partners ship more units this year and will drive up the average unit price (ASP) of graphics card products.

With Nvidia’s RTX 40 series launching in late 2022, it makes sense for the company’s partners to be eager to launch new products. When the RTX 50 series launches, Nvidia’s RTX 40 series of product will be over two years old. Nvidia’s partners want new products to drive sales, especially within the lucrative high-end market.

What to expect from Nvidia’s RTX 5090 and RTX 5080

Rumour has it that Nvidia’s RTX 5090 will deliver a huge 60-70% performance boost over their RTX 4090, but little has been said about the RTX 5080. Both GPUs are likely to use GDDR7 memory. Beyond that, Nvidia’s RTX 5090 will reportedly feature a 512-bit memory bus.

If Nvidia’s RTX 5090 deliver its rumoured 60-70% performance gains over their RTX 4090, we can expect Nvidia’s RTX 5080 to also surpass their RTX 4090. Given recent trends with Nvidia’s RTX generations, it is likely that Nvidia’s RTX 5070 will give an RTX 4090 a run for its money. That would be great news for gamers, if Nvidia releases these GPUs with reasonable pricing.
