Cyberpunk 2077 now has a third-person mod, and it… works?
When CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would be a first-person RPG, many of the company’s fans were concerned. Moving to a first-person perspective was a major departure from The Witcher 3’s 3rd person viewpoint, and a lot of people didn’t like that.Â
Over on Nexus Mods, a creator called Jelle Bakker is working on Cyberpunk 2077’s first third person mod, “TPP MOD WIP Third Person”. As the name suggests, this mod is a work in progress. A lot of work needs to be done before Cyberpunk 2077 will be fully playable in third-person. Thus far, this third-person mod is only useful for world traversal, as Cyberpunk’s combat is not designed for 3rd person gameplay. Â
Cyberpunk 2077’s player animations are designed to look good from a first-person perspective, and this third person mod showcases the trickery that allows the game to look good from this perspective. If only a single word could be used for V’s animations in third-person, that word would be inhuman.Â
This work in progress mod requires Cyberpunk 2077 PC players to utilise a tool called “Cyber Engine Tweaks”, which is also available through Nexus Mods. Once this tool is installed, PC gamers can use it to install either the male or female version of Cyberpunk 2077’s work in progress 3rd person mod.Â

At this time, we do not recommend using Cyberpunk 2077’s third-person mod. It is encouraging to see how this mod has progressed since Cyberpunk 2077’s release. Cyberpunk 2077 is only a month old, and PC gamers already have a semi-functional third-person mode.Â
Below we have also included a video from Orin FY on YouTube which showcases Cyberpunk 2077’s Work in Progress third person mod.Â
