F1 25 will feature “Ultra Max” Path Tracing Option on PC
F1 25 will have a PC-exclusive graphics mode
EA has confirmed that F1 25 will feature a PC-exclusive graphics option called “Ultra Max”, bringing Path Tracing to the series for the first time. This option will enhance F1 25’s utilisation of ray tracing, enabling bounce lighting to deliver more realistic visuals.
On PCs with powerful enough hardware, F1 25’s new path tracing mode will deliver the series’ most realistic simulation of lighting to date. Currently, it is unknown what kind of PC will be required to run the game’s new “Ultra Max” mode. That said, the fact that it’s PC-only suggests that even Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro (with its RT enhancements) isn’t up for the task.
On top of the improvements to lighting, shadows, and circuits overall, an emerging PC-exclusive innovation called Path Tracing is being introduced.
Expanding on Ray Tracing technology and available as a new “Ultra Max” option in the graphics settings, light now follows every bounced path, including that from indirect lighting and multiple reflections. Shade, light, and colours dynamically shift as they would in real-life, whether you’re racing under the thousands of lights in Bahrain or navigating the castle section on Baku at sunset.
If you have a PC capable of experiencing it, Path Tracing is the most realistic simulation of light on track that we’ve ever delivered.
On all platforms, F1 25 will feature lighting improvements and tonemapping improvements across the game. This will result in more dramatic lighting effects across all weather types. Unlike prior F1 series games, F1 25 is only available on current-generation platforms. That is allowing Codemasters to take the series’ visuals to the next level, both on PC and consoles.
F1 25 will support path tracing on day 1 on PC. The game is coming to PC and consoles on May 30th, with the PC version supporting VR headsets at launch.
