Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will have both a high resolution and high framerate mode on PS4 Pro

The PS4 Pro is a console that holds a lot of promise, offering specifications that should be able to enhance the console’s performance to potentially deliver gaming experiences with fewer performance dips and higher fidelity visuals.

The main problem with the console is that while it can prevent some framerate dips, well-made console games are already designed to eliminate this on base hardware, making the “Pro” update only useful for increasing in-game resolutions and other graphical properties.

One of the most requested PS4 Pro features that fans cry out for is a 60 FPS mode for titles that are traditionally locked to 30, though this feature is rare given the PS4 Pro’s small 30ish percent CPU upgrade, which simply cannot handle a jump from 30 to 60FPS if the console’s CPU is already fully utilised. This makes 60FPS modes for PS4 Pro games are rare, but Ninja Theory has revealed that they will be offering both higher framerate and higher resolution modes for the PS4 Pro version of the game.

The PC version of the game is also been confirmed to offer an unlocked framerate, which is pretty much a given for a Ninja Theory game on PC, though this PS4 Pro 60FPS mode means that this framerate should be easily achievable on PC, especially if Ninja Theory offers an in-depth graphical options menu.

Hellbalde comes from the Cambridge-based developer Ninja Theory, the developer behind games like DMC and Heavenly Sword. One thing to remember here is that the company’s PC version of DMC was very well made, running maxed out on even the most mediocre of systems at the time.

The development team behind this title is small, comprising of only 20 full-time members who have worked tirelessly to match AAA gaming quality despite their small size. As can be seen in the trailer below the game will offer some breathtaking graphical quality while also offering satisfying gameplay.

The game itself will be based in the Viking era with heavy Celtic influences, with the titular character Senua embarking on a quest into the underworld to find the soul of a lost lover.

Ninja Theory has also released the game’s minimum PC system requirements, requiring either a GTX 770 or an R9 280X on the GPU side or a minimum of an i5 3570K or an FX 8350 on the CPU side. This game will be based on the new Unreal 4 Engine, with the game being expected to run on the DirectX 11 API.
