Need for Speed Underground gets an RTX rework with new mod
Need for Speed Underground looks great with this new RTX Remix mod
Thanks to the modder “alessandro893“, there is a new way to play Need for Speed Underground on PC. Now, the classic racer is available to play using Nvidia’s RTX Remix technology. This RTX version of Need for Speed Underground features higher resolution textures, path tracing, PBR materials, 2500 newly added light sources, and many other upgrades.
This is version 0.1 of this new RTX remix. That said, this work in progress version of Need for Speed Underground looks great. Yes, car reflections could use a little work, but it is hard to deny that this is an impressive effort from a single modder.
Recent changes to this mod include performance optimisations, and bug fixes. Based on the video below, the mod appears to run well on PC. The video itself if 4K 60Hz, though it is unknown what kind of PC hardware has been used to run this RTX remix mod.
This RTX Remix for Need for Speed is still in its early stages of development. Even so, this is an impressive showcase for Nvidia’s RTX Remix tech. Classic games are getting reimagined through the power of modern hardware and the enthusiasm of gamers, and we love it. We wish alessandro893 the best of luck as they continue working this mod.
