PC modder has added full 60FPS support to Mortal Kombat 11
While the game’s physics and combat are directly tied to a 60FPS framerate, the game’s cutscenes, menus, intro scenes and fatalities are all limited to 30FPS, a feature from the game’s console releases. On PC, gamers should be able to power through these issues, and on PC the sudden slowdown has been known to cause audio/video desynchronisation. In short, the PC experience for Mortal Kombat 11 is not as great as it could be.Â
Thankfully, the modding community has already addressed some of Mortal Kombat 11’s PC woes, with Endri Lauson creating a mod which can allow Mortal Kombat 11 to remove the game’s 30FPS cap and remove the black bars that restrict ultra-wide monitors to 16:9 resolutions.Â
Lauson’s mod is available to download here, though it is worth noting that the game’s “The Krypt” mode is extremely demanding when compared to the rest of the game, making 60FPS play difficult. It is also unknown whether or not the mod can set off Mortal Kombat 11’s anti-cheating measures.Â
When the mod is active, pressing F10 will allow the game to use ultrawide resolutions without black bars and pressing F11 will enable 60FPS gameplay in formerly 30FPS limited areas.Â
While we can understand why the console versions of Mortal Kombat 11 are restricted to 30FPS in selected areas, the developers of the game should know that gaming PCs are capable of powering through these demanding scenes without much hassle, assuming that the game is played on powerful enough hardware.
Congratulations to Endri Lauson for making the PC version of Mortal Kombat 11 a fully 60FPS fighting game.Â
