Insomniac Games has confirmed that Spider_Man: Miles Morales will be able to run at “4K / 60fps” using the game’s “Performance Mode” on PlayStation 5. This change will allow PS5 users to “swing through the city like never before”, though it is worth noting that this performance mode is optional.

At this time, it is unclear what changed will be present between Spider-Man’s standard 30 FPS mode and 60 FPS “Performance Mode”. It is likely that Spider-Man’s performance mode will rely on dynamic resolution scaling to help deliver a solid 60 FPS framerate, and utilise the PlayStation 5’s high-speed Zen 2 processors to reach this framerate target on the CPU-side. It is also possible that advanced graphical will be cut from the game to deliver higher framerates, potentially cutting down the game’s ray-traced effects or other high-cost features.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will release on PlayStation 5 when the console launches later this year. The game will be Insomniac’s first game for Sony’s new console. At this time it is unknown of Ratched and Clank: Rift Apart, a future Insomniac Games PS5 release, will be available with a 60 FPS mode.
