Torchlight looks awesome with Nvidia’s RTX Remix tech

Torchlight receives a massive visual overhaul with Nvidia’s RTX Remix tech

A modder called Kralich has released an impressive RTX Remix mod for Torchlight, the 2009 action RPG. This mod is the “Torchlight RTX: Towns and Mines Demo”, which is available to download now through ModdB. As the name implied, this mod only enhances Torchlight’s main town areas and its mines, though future versions of this mod could rework the entire game.

Despite being 15 years old, Nvidia’s RTX Remix technology is enough to bring this classic up to date with modern lighting. The mod adds path traced lighting to Torchlight with strong use of emissive lighting. The mod also adds “real reflections” to the game, giving the title another visual boost.

Below is a video showcasing this mod in action. It was created by Jacob Freeman, Nvidia’s GeForce Evangelist.

While this mod is impressive, Kralich has confirmed that they will not be doing much more with this RTX mod. However, they have given permission for other modders to continue the project and give all of Torchlight an RTX Remix overhaul. If another modder takes on this project, the full game could soon be playable with path traced visuals.
