Total War Warhammer 3 “Tech Improvement” to make the game faster
Patch 6.2 will make Total War: Warhammer III load faster and reduce the game’s install size
Patch 6.2 is launching today for Total War: Warhammer 3, and it will add new content to the game, rework several game systems, and deliver some major tech upgrades.
For starters, changes have been made to Total War Warhammer III’s AI, altering how factions interact. Users can still opt to use the old AI if they wish, though the new AI should make better decisions and focus more on nearby factions. There will also be an option to increase the potential of minor factions, allowing them to have a larger impact on campaigns.
New Compression Tech speeds up Total War: Warhammer 3 loading times
Next, we have changes to Total War: Warhammer 3’s compression tech. Thanks to some technical wizardry, Creative Assembly has decreased the install size of Total War: Warhammer III while also enabling faster loading times. That means that Warhammer III will soon take up less HDD/SSD space, and that loading times will soon be shorter.
This patch also introduces a significant tech improvement, enhancing our compression standards to enable fast decompression speeds for most files within the game packages, helping to reduce the overall size of the game on your hard disks and bringing load time improvements in the process – voodoo! To enable this change, this patch will seem unusually large, and is estimated to clock in at 55GB in your downloads, but will ironically reduce your overall install size once installed.
Overall, Total War Warhammer III should now take up 27% less space. Battle loading times are also decreased by 5-42%. Furthermore, campaign loading times are reduced by an average of 9%. Players will now be able to get into and out of battles sooner. This means that gamers can spend less time waiting and more time playing.
Implemented and applied general compression with fast decompression speed for the majority of files in game packages:
- Game storage size reduced by 27%.
- Improved loading times when entering battles, with reductions ranging from 5% to 42%, depending on the battle.
- Improved loading times when entering the campaign, with an average speed improvement of 9%.
- Reorganised game packages to reduce and minimise patching time for future updates.
(A lot has changed since Total War Warhammer III launched)
Aside from tech upgrades, Total War: Warhammer 3 players now have access to new units. This includes Hobgoblin Bolt Throwers for Chaos Dwarfs and Blood Knights (Sword and Shield versions) for Vampire Counts. Large changes have also been made to magic items.
Overall, this is a solid update for Total War Warhammer III. The game’s AI changes are welcome, as are the game’s faster loading times. Full patch notes for update 6.2 are available to read here.
