T-Force launches their limit-pushing PCIe 5.0 GE PRO SSD

Team Group’s new T-Force GE PRO SSD promises 14GB/s read speeds with its Innogrit controller

Team Group has combined Innogrit’s IG5666 SSD controller and 2400 MT/s 3D NAND to push the limits of PCIe 5.0 SSD technology. Meet the T-Force GE PRO, a PCIe 5.0 SSD that promises users 14 GB/s sequential read speeds.

Today’s high-end PCIe 5.0 SSDs are mostly powered by Phison’s E26 SSD controller, and most of those drives max out at 12.4 GB/s speeds. While Phison claims that they plan to create faster SSDs with their partners, Team Group got there first with Innogrit’s 12nm multi-core IG5666 SSD controller.

Honestly, it is great to see some competition within the SSD controller market. Today, Phison are a dominant player, and competition is key if we want SSD controller prices to lower. One citical aspect of Innogrit’s 12nm IG5666 controller is that it claims to be “energy efficient”. It will be interesting to see if it is as prone to overheating and throttling as Phison’s E26 controller. If not, this would be a big deal for PC enthusiasts. After all, who wants to see their SSDs throttling under high loads?

Team Group has previously showcased this PCIe 5.0 SSD at CES 2024. Pre-orders for the T-Force GE PRO will start on February 9th 2024 on Amazon in the US and Japan. At this time we do not know when Team Group plans to launch this SSD in the UK and Europe.
