Cooler Master MH752 Headset Review

Introduction

For a long period of time the majority of headsets available fell into the gaming category, with audio performance tuned towards the specific needs of gamers and the style of audio games produce. Recently we have seen a shift away from gaming focussed offerings towards high-end HiFi based headsets. Naturally these produce whopping great audio but with a price tag to match that HiFi logo. What if you just want a headset that you can game with, shout at your friends, taunt your enemies, and generally have a good time with that doesn’t involve selling a kidney to fund it?

It has been a while since Cooler Master expanded away from their standard product types of cases, PSUs and, erm, coolers. Initially with the CM Storm brand, that was then subsumed into the main Cooler Master brand again once it had made its mark. Now, with the launch of the MH751 and MH752 headsets there are new Cooler Master peripherals to get excited about, and we have the MH752 headset in the office to test and see how it fares against the competition.

Technical Specifications

Although the following is true of both of the new models, we only have the MH752 on hand and thus will be focussing our efforts upon that particular model. The MH752 is equipped with 40mm Neodymium drivers balanced towards the mid-tones and bass as befits a gaming orientated headset. A large amount of effort has gone into making them as comfortable as possible for the marathon gaming sessions. Sure the game developers might recommend you take 15 minute breaks every hour, but unless you’re a chain smoker playing in a bar we all know that nobody actually steps away from their display anything like that much, so having a headset which is designed to be comfortable after hours and hours of fragging your enemies and scoring victory is a boon.

The design of the MH752 also shows how focussed it is in the construction. There are both USB and 3.5mm cables included, and they are detachable for easy portability. The headset itself folds flat too, and there is a carrying bag supplied with the MH752 to keep them safe. It’s always better to show than to tell, so let’s see it in the flesh.
