Testing
The pair agreed that Aaron was the perfect person to benefit from this generosity, being able to help pass the time by gaming and once well enough to continue studying, use the parts as a workstation. Any or all the parts would go towards a major upgrade of Aarons current PC :
CPU: AMD x4 760K
Motherboard: Gigabyte FM2 GA-F2A85XM-D3H
RAM: Mis-match 2x4GB Corsair 1600MHz + 1x2GB Kingston 1600MHz + 1x4GB TeamGroup 2133MHz (Running at 1600MHz. 14GB in total)
GPU: HD 7870 Tahiti LE – Aftermarket Accelero S1 Plus (+120mm fan)
SSD: 128GB Samsung 830
HDD: Seagate 3TB
PSU: Corsair CX430
WYP quickly got to work on testing the parts, pulling out his old Dimastech test bench and 1000w Cooler Master Silent Pro PSU. All the parts were in immaculate visual condition, offering the promise of little of nothing wrong with the majority of the parts donated. So throwing the Dominator Plats into a working machine, they showed no issues when tested, giving all four sticks a green light to be donated.
With the RAM fully tested and working, it was time to move on to the Motherboard and CPU, knowing there was a fault somewhere in this system, the worry was that this could possibly be a long drawn out process to find the problem and if it was in fact within the scope of repairs. So throwing a single stick of RAM into the board to eliminate a DIMM Slot issue and a quick BIOS clear, he fired up the board and nothing …..
