MSI Immerse GH50 Headset Review

If you grow weary of product packaging which is an assault upon your eyes then you’ll enjoy the simplicity of the Immerse GH50 box. Model name, brand logo, product image, bosh. Job done.

  

Inside we find the detachable microphone, a quick reference guide and a Dragon branded carry bag. As well as the headset itself of course.

  

The headset itself is a combination of grey plastic structure with black ear sections, containing the Mystic Light system – in the form of a Dragon logo – as well as two deep and padded ear pieces in some form of PVC. The cable is both long and braided.

  

The inline remote controls the volume as well as on/off toggles for the virtual 7.1 surround, the vibration/bass system and your microphone.

  

Although the hinges themselves aren’t very flexible, and plastic abounds, the inside of the headband is two steel strips which should provide a robust foundation to ensure longevity.

  

The microphone is detachable but once in place is rigid, unlike many flexible solutions we see. This has the benefit of not placing the microphone too close to your mouth and thus blowing out the ears of your teammates. Given our experience with online gaming this is probably the perfect headset to buy for them to stop them blowing ours out.

  

We had to chuckle at the L and R printing on the inside of the ear pieces. Anyone that thinks the microphone is best used facing the back of your head is probably beyond hope. However, this photo does give you a good look at the deep and well padded ear pieces.

  

Lastly should you wish to take advantage of the supplied carry bag the Immerse GH50 folds down into a fairly compact size so you can take it to your gaming convention and be up and running in moments.
