By virtue of having a cable to connect the amplifier to the PC, and three jacks to connect the headset into the other side of the amplifier, there is a fair bit more spaghetti than you usually get from a headset, but thankfully the headset cable breaks out into three very near the end so once you’ve got it in situ it’s not as bad as it looks on our photography table.

The USB amplifier is, much like the headset, all plastic to keep the costs down. It’s sturdy though and certainly doesn’t creak or flex. The dial feels nice and has a smooth action.

The USB 7.1 virtual amplifier lights up to indicate the volume level as well as which of the equaliser and headset settings you’ve currently employed. The equaliser cycles between Gaming, Movie, Voice and Music, although we found the gaming mode was neutral enough that it worked in pretty much all settings.
