ASUS ROG Ryuo 240 and Ryujin 360 AIO Liquid Cooler Review

As far as CLC coolers go, the ASUS ROG Ryuo is pretty standard fare, featuring packaging that is similar to their competitors but offers a little more ASUS ROG flair, including all of the little touches that makes unboxing high-end ROG boxes a joy. ASUS has not cheaped out on their packaging. 

The rear of the box showcases ASUS’ key features, such as the Ryuo’s 177-inch OLED display, Aura Sync functionality with ARGB lighting, their use of custom ROG series 120mm fans and their premium aluminium pump top cover. 
  

Once you enter the box, ASUS’s ROG Ryuo is boxed a lot like competing AIOs, with every component sitting in its place with a plethora of protective coverings, ensuring each unit arrives undamaged and without any scratches or undesired markings. 

Most premium AIOs ship with similar packaging, so there are no real positive or negatives for ASUS in this regard, as everything is pretty much as expected. 

  
  

Looking at the pump/block section of the AIO, we can clearly see that this is an Asetek design, featuring the same braided hose and mounting plate as other recent Asetek coolers, though the differences come when looking at the ROG branding, LED placement and the inclusion of the Ryuo’s OLED screen, key differentiating factors for ASUS’ latest CLC. 

We can also see that the pump is powered by a SATA connector and that the unit includes PWM connections for both of the unit’s 120mm fans. 

  

As far as the radiator goes, the ASUS Ryuo is typical for an Asetek-based unit, featuring the same braided cables that we have seen on seemingly countless other AIOs. This is not a bad thing, as the quality of the braid is nothing to complain about. 

Like all new Asetek coolers, the ASUS Ryuo supports all of Intel’s consumer sockets, from LGA 1150/1/5/3 to older sockets like LGA 1366 to newer sockets like LGA 2011-3 and LGA 2066. On the AMD side, this cooler supports both AM4 and TR4 motherboards. 

Moving onto the fans, we can clearly see that the design is ASUS’ baby, featuring a ROG logo in the centre of the fan blades and “Republic of Gamers” writing around the frame. Both fans come with short 15cm cables, which is more than enough to ensure a clean connection to the AIO while also making sure that cable clutter is minimised.
