Big Airflow – Fractal Epoch XL PC Case Review

Conclusion and Video Review

Great pricing for an “XL” case

The Fractal Epoch XL is everything you should want from an “XL” case variant. It retains all the charm of the original Epoch but delivers expanded hardware support across all the areas that matter. This case supports larger GPUs, CPU coolers, motherboards, and top-mounted liquid coolers.

Despite its increased size, Fractal has managed to keep its case pricing reasonable—£109.99 is a great price for this case. If you add an extra £20, you can upgrade to the model with three Momentum 14 RGB fans. Not bad for a set of premium RGB fans. While I personally prefer the non-RGB aesthetic of this case, it’s hard to deny the appeal of RGB lighting.

Great airflow

When it comes to airflow, the Fractal Epoch XL excels. When it comes to CPU cooling, this case is the case to beat. That said, GPU cooling isn’t as strong as some other modern case designs. Cases with bottom-mounted fans are better suited to GPU cooling. That said, this case is no slouch when it comes to GPU airflow.

With strong pricing and high levels of airflow, this case is in the running for Performance and Value for Money Awards. This case is large and comes with a nice set of 140mm fans. While users will ideally add some extra fans to this case, this case has a strong out-of-the-box configuration.

Honestly, there is nothing major that we can fault about this case. We would like to see rubber grommets on this case’s top cable routing holes; these holes would be covered if you used a liquid cooling radiator. Since most PC builders now use all-in-one liquid cooling solutions, this is a non-issue for most PC builders. Aside from that, we have no real complaints.

The Epoch XL is big, affordable, and delivers a lot of airflow. That’s everything that a modern PC builder can ask for. The Epoch XL is a case that we strongly recommend.
