Enermax ETD-T60 CPU Cooler

Enermax ETD-T60 CPU Cooler

Up Close.

As with the other Coolers in the Enermax line up the T60 comes securely packaged in a simple card board box, with a small window giving a view not so much of the cooler but of the front and side aspects of the Vegas fan and custom cowling.  As is usual the exterior of the box also details key features and product specifications.

Opening the box we find the fan held tightly in place by the cardboard framework, with accessories and instructions stowed in a compartment off to the side so as to reduce the chances of them rolling around and damaging the finish of the cooler.

Being a top down cooler, for the most part once installed all you’re going to see of it is the fan.  Although the TB model simply has a Silence TB fan attached to the cooler the VD model reviewed here has it’s fan encased in a custom black plastic cowling

Under the fan lives a rather nice aluminium finned heat-sink.  6 x 6mm Nickel plated copper heat pipes lead from the Nickel plated copper contact plate up through the main cooling fin area, with 4 from one side and 2 from the other the pipes cross over as they pass through the body of the cooler.  So much Nickel plated gorgeousness, seems a shame then that such a beautiful cooler is covered up, but I guess that’s the nature of the beast with top down coolers.  As the only time you’ll see the cooler is when you install it I thought a few pictures were in order.

Taking another look at the image in the top right hand corner above it’s worth noting that the contact plate is offset from the centre point of the cooler, in doing so Enermax are able to have a large fin area without encountering the issues that might be associated with the cooler overhanging the RAM slots.  The side with the minimal overhang goes towards the RAM and doesn’t get in the way, and the side with the big overhang sits over the MOSFETS well above them, with the added advantage that being under the sink, they are also under the fan and get a bit of a breeze up their skirts for free.
