MEGA Airflow! HYTE X50 PC Case Review
Conclusion
Conclusion – High Airflow, Strong Aesthetic
It’s hard not to respect HYTE for what they have achieved with the X50. They wanted a high airflow ATX PC case, and they delivered. They also delivered it with a ton of colour options and unique design features. The engineering that went into this case’s front panel alone is astounding. Their unique (patent-pending) rear ventilation design is also inspiring.
Airflow-wise, the X50 ranks among the best cases we have ever tested. While its design is quirky, so are many of us in the PC building space. When we build PCs, we’re building something for ourselves, and I’m guessing a lot of people will buy the X50 based on aesthetics alone. Those customers will be getting an incredible PC case with a strong airflow profile. No performance is getting thrown out the window for aesthetic reasons.
While there are a lot of things that we love about the X50, we’re not fond of its PSU mount. This sits directly behind the X50’s glass panel and disrupts most of this case’s front view. Honestly, this makes me want to get a Dremel out and modify this case to give it a smaller, less obtrusive SFX PSU mount. Honestly, if this case were any wider, a PSU could fit behind its motherboard tray, eliminating the need for a top-mounted PSU entirely.
For HYTE, ATX PSU support was obviously a design requirement, and they didn’t want to make this case wider/dual-chambered. This left them with no choice but to have a top-mounted power supply. Users can customise this PSU mount with some stickers, decals, or custom artwork, or leave it plain if you prefer that look.
Strong airflow, quirky aesthetic, excellent engineering
The engineering behind the HYTE X50 is impressive, and so are this case’s thermals. This is one of the best-performing PC cases that we have ever tested. Furthermore, it achieves this performance without overly high fan speeds. There’s a reason why HYTE’s FX12 series fans max out at 1500 RPM. They don’t need to be faster to deliver strong airflow. There’s no need for faster/louder fans with this case.
The HYTE X50 deserves nothing less than an OC3D Performance Award. This case’s results speak for themselves. HYTE has done a great job with its X50, and we look forward to seeing what they do next.
