NZXT Kraken X72 AIO Cooler Review

Up Close:  Radiator and Cold Plate.

The X72 has a length of 394mm and is designed to take 3x120mm fans.  The rad itself has a thickness of just 27mm which means when fitted with 25mm thick fans will bring the whole shooting match up to 52mm thick.

The fin density and water channels are about average for a 360mm AIO, bring just a little higher than your average 240mm offering.

The braided hoses attach to the end tank by means of the “Grannies Ankles” method that it’s fair to say we’re not too fond off.  Don’t go thinking they’re going to snap off if you fart in there general direction, or anything like that, we just don’t like the aesthetics of them.

The upper surface of the cold plate has the NZXT logo within it (you can just see it under the OC3D watermark.  When powered up the head has individually addressable RGB LEDs, which, when used in conjunction with the CAM software and the built in parallel infinity mirrors can produce some wonderful lighting effects.  Just the shame the fans aren’t RGB.

The crown of the cold plate is of brushed Aluminium effect, with the rest of the housing being Matt Black plastic.  The hoses connect via 90 degree rotating elbows, and have a good degree of movement.

The copper cold plate is on the small size by modern standards but should be large enough to get the job done.  What thing that is disappointing is the lack of thought that’s gone into the tidying of all the wires as they leave the cold plate assembly, as they do make it look a bit untidy.
