NZXT Performance Fan Series Review

Conclusion

Conclusion – Better performance, even at lower RPMs

If you think these fans are just faster versions of NZXT’s RGB core fans, you are mistaken. NZXT has redesigned its fans in several fundamental ways. They are thicker, they use different materials, and they new a new/custom hybrid bearing design. Yes, they also feature higher maximum fan speeds, but that’s by far the least interesting thing about these new fans.

The result of NZXT’s design changes is improved fan performance. These new fans deliver more static pressure than their RGB Core counterparts and more airflow. That means more airflow when moving air through heatsinks or liquid coolers, as well as increased airflow in standard PC case applications.

When comparing NZXT’s Performance and standard fans at identical RPM values, NZXT’s new Performance series fans will deliver lower system thermals. Simply put, more cool air enters your PC case, and more hot air can exit it. It’s really as simple as that.

Like all premium fans, NZXT’s new Performance series fans carry premium pricing. That’s the only thing that can be seen as a negative about these fans. As always, it is essential to remember that premium fan materials and bearings come at a cost. If they didn’t, they would quickly become the new “standard”.

All in all, we are impressed by NZXT’s new F-X Performance series fans. They deliver exactly what they promise: more airflow and more static pressure. For us, that means much better PC thermals at low RPMs, allowing us to build systems that are cooler and quieter. That said, these fans also have the option to push fan speeds to extreme levels, which could come in handy if we ever want to maximise our CPU/GPU overclocks.

These fans deserve nothing less than an OC3D Performance Award. They deliver exactly what they aimed to deliver, and we saw clear benefits when we installed these inside our test system. It’s a solid upgrade for NZXT user who want more from their fans.
