AMD Ryzen 3970X Threadripper Review

Test Setup

We’ve got a set of the blisteringly fast Patriot Viper Steel 4000 MHz to test the ultimate memory performance of the Ryzen TR 3970X. AMD have done sterling work with their 3rd Gen Ryzen on the memory bandwidth so we knew it was time to really push the boat out. Thus we have three results in our graphs, the blue stock, the green OC, and in yellow our OC with the Patriot memory.

Overclocking

The 24 core Ryzen Threadripper 3960X managed a reasonable overclock despite its hefty core count, and the 32 core 3970X continues this trend by pushing 4.3 GHz across all 64 threads. We just can’t overstate what an incredible achievement AMD have performed by producing so many cores in such a usable package and still giving you enough headroom to push the clock speed should you require it.

The scores this thing generates should be mind-blowing. Let’s find out.
