The Crosshair X870E Extreme looks exactly as we expect ROG boxes to look these days. Black, red accents, shiny text. All present and correct.
As with any ASUS ROG product, especially at this end of the market, you get tons of accessories to keep you entertained whilst waiting on the rest of your build hardware to arrive. Or just to look at while planning it.
The ROG Q-DIMM.2 is ASUS way of giving you the lowest possible latency storage option around. Thankfully with the Crosshair X870E Extreme you also don’t need to give up a pair of DIMM slots to run it. It works alongside the four memory slots. Lovely.
With WiFi 7 being incredibly fast – at least potentially – it’s no surprise to see the ASUS antenna has been slightly refreshed. It’s a little girthier than the WiFi 6 ones.
We know that an overview can help get a picture of something in your head when we move to the closer details on the next page. One thing that ASUS have to be credited for is the movable lighting panel next to the IO section. These VRM heatsink + RGB combo affairs have got huge lately. Being able to easily clear any fan fouling is thinking ahead and applause-worthy.
