ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex Encore Preview

Introduction

Z790 Apex Encore

Introduction

Any time there is a new processor launch there will always be some new motherboards. Partly because this is a business and thus the opportunity to have a fresh new lineup on the market is always going to be one that is taken, but also because manufacturers understand that not everyone is willing to flash their BIOS to update their current motherboard to support the new CPUs. With a lot of new Z790 motherboards on hand we naturally can’t review them all in time for release day. We’ll be covering all the ones we have in full detail very soon. In the meantime you can have a look at the ones we’ve not yet tested – more than half have been – and to that end it’s time to preview the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex Encore.

That name alone should give away where this fits into the ASUS Z790 range. There is always going to be a little bit of confusion with a new range of motherboards supporting existing names on current chipsets, but by calling this latest model the Z790 Apex Encore we think that ASUS have done all they can to clarify the situation.

Officially there are elements of this that we can’t tell you today, but come tomorrow when everything is revealed we will be free to dig into the finer details. However, we’re experienced enough, and you’re knowledgeable enough, that even without us making things explicit we think that you’ll get a good feel for what the Apex Encore is bringing to the party. If nothing else, anything that’s part of the ROG Maximus line of motherboards has a strong lineage.
