One of the key elements about human beings, and a bit part of the reason we’ve arguably reached the top of the food chain, is our ability to adapt. When ASUS first changed their Republic of Gamers packaging from red with a black logo to black with a red logo it felt very weird. Now it’s just the way that ROG products are, and the Z790 Apex Encore is no exception to this. It just looks classy.
One of the key features of these updated Z790 motherboards is their support for very fast DDR5. Like all ROG products the Z790 Apex Encore has a lot of cool things in the box. One of them is this memory fan. Unusually it doesn’t sit above the memory slots, but instead it’s below them. We’ll show you it in-situ at the end of this preview.
A common accessory in all ROG motherboard boxes is their famous DIMM.2 module. All the speed of M.2 in an easy to install add-in package for those of you with a surfeit of storage on hand.
As you can see there is room beneath the thick heatspreader for two M.2 drives.
WiFi enthusiasts will be happy to see that the Z790 Apex Encore supports the new WiFi 7, and includes the famous ROG antenna.
As more of us have systems that eschew an optical drive, the inclusion of a USB stick for the drivers and manuals is becoming more common. ASUS ROG products are no exception.
Thank you for your patience. We’ll take a closer look at the Maximus Z790 Apex Encore on the next page, but it’s nice to see an overview. There are plenty of different textures and ways they’ve used their ROG Eye brandmark.
