ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi II Review
Introduction and Technical Specifications
The latest model to become part of the ASUS Strix Z790 range, and one that supports the latest Intel 14th Generation processors out of the box, is the ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi II.
It wouldn’t be over-stating things to suggest that the ASUS Strix range has proven to be an incredible success for ASUS. That is, we have to confess, something that didn’t feel all that likely when they first released the hardware under their Strix banner. All those products leant heavily into the Owl iconography that was at the heart of their new brand. Now we all like different things, but back then it felt like a quirky new design, although it was balanced out by the actual hardware being very good.
Time has moved on, and as the owl designs fell by the wayside the name remained, although now the ethos had been twisted towards a very gaming heavy focus. It’s almost become the first place where ASUS try out new designs, new hardware and particularly new lighting options. That focus on the gamers has meant the Strix range sells in enormous quantities, boasting high-end performance allied to all the glitz and flair that gamers have come to expect. Few things give you the immediate bang-for-buck feeling that Strix stuff does, and the ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi II follows some very famous fellows. Big shoes to fill. Does it do so? There is, as always, only one way to find out and that’s to put it through our OC3D Review process and see what it brings to the party.
