Unquestionably the biggest surprise for us with the ninth iteration of the Maximus motherboards are the inclusion of the TUF Armor, something which was previously limited to the Sabertooth range. By covering up the various bits of solder, capacitors etc and utilising flaps and cutouts for the important parts you end up with a motherboard which looks like it was hewn from a single piece. It makes for a very aesthetically pleasing offering. There are plenty of fan headers placed everywhere to make sure that you can run your case as cool as you desire whilst also having full control over them without having to head to the BIOS or invest in inline resistors. What really separates the Code from the Formula, or perhaps doesn’t depending upon your intended use, is the Code hasn’t got the backplate, nor the in-built watercooling heatsink. Otherwise there is nothing to choose between them.
