Introduction

Usually a chipset gets released along with a handful of motherboards from each manufacturer, and that’s that. It’s a testament to the longevity of the AM5 socket, and the popularity of the Ryzen processors, that new ones are still arriving in the office.

The next batch come from ASUS. Famous for their ROG range, recent times have seen improvements in the TUF Gaming lineup. Once the purview of the market entry level, the TUF range is now as capable as most. Certainly any and all that exist at this price point. The X870-Pro W NEO is the model up today. The W, as you might have gleaned from the image below, stands for white. We’ve seen many white offerings recently, and most of them are as silver as they are white. The TUF leans very heavily into this palest option. Even the plastics are white, with light grey used if there is a need to differentiate close grouped headers.

By now everyone is more than familiar with what the X870 chipset has to offer. The capability of the Ryzen CPUs is hardly secret either. So let’s get down to business.
