Z790 TUF Board Tour
Z790 TUF Board Tour
Digging into a little more detail, we begin with the two 8pin 12V CPU power inputs. Given that we test with a Core i9-14900K, we’ll need all it has.
The CPU fan and pump headers are slightly split. The main two above the heatsink, with an additional optional fan header by the DIMM slots. The little TUF logo on the right is the only concession to onboard lighting. Although below it we have two parts of the AURA Sync lighting ecosystem. One Addressable, one regular.
Moving further down, next to the aforementioned GPU release button, are the front panel USB ports. Type-A and Type-C both represented. Just below this shot are two of the SATA ports, horizontal orientation.
There are a couple of fan headers surrounding the two other, vertical, SATA ports. You also have all the front panel connectors to attach the Z790 TUF to your chassis. You can also see how the lower M.2 heatsink fills the whole width of the PCB.
Lastly two front panel USB 2.0 headers handle all your RGB devices. Next to those are two more addressable RGB headers, and a final fan header. We can also see, above the 09, the latch M.2 retainer. Anything beats those fiddly little screws we had to endure up to now. Just above the two white AURA headers is a Thunderbolt header, should you have invested in that technology.
