Overclocking

As the speeds of available DDR4 kits rapidly climb into the stratosphere as the technology matures then it makes perfect sense to see what we can squeeze from the Maximus X Hero. With the right memory kit and a little bit of fine tuning it’s possible to run a 4.7 GHz CPU with 3866 MHz memory on the MultiCore Enhancement. Pay closer attention to your manual overclocking and 4.5 GHz at 4000 MHz DDR4 is easily achievable.

We know that you’re all here to discover how the overclocking of the i7-8700K performs on the Maximus X Hero and we have some very good news. With an easy to use BIOS and settings that have been labelled with clarity it didn’t take too long at all to achieve 5 GHz on our Core i7 whilst still maintaining 3900 MHz on the DDR4. This will be the settings we use in our overclock tests.
