Introduction

A long time ago the difference between the needs of gamers and creators was stark. Partly because the concept of a creator was almost wholly confined to people who either did complex designing on CAD systems, or who had their rig plugged into a video editing suite. Nowadays most gamers also indulge in some light streaming, or modding, or even just video and photo editing thanks to the high quality cameras we all have attached to our phones. Man the things I could have photos of from my youth if I had a camera on my phone.

All of which means that even a creator focused motherboard such as the ASUS ProArt B760-Creator isn’t a huge step in any direction when compared to their ROG Strix ones. The market is smaller for Creation options and it seems that ASUS know this. The ProArt isn’t listed on either the ProArt section of their website or even their regular motherboard list. Hopefully this isn’t being sent out to die as it certainly has a couple of elements that we’ve not seen in our B760 previews so far. Nonetheless it’s worth bearing in mind that details are scarce. Hopefully by the time we bring you our full review in the next few days there will be some concrete information to firm up the things we can glean based upon our experience.

Consider this, then, very much a taster.

Technical Specifications

ASUS haven’t got the ProArt on their website so you’ll have to do what we’ve had to do and peer intently at the back of the box. Naturally all the B760 chipset motherboards have similar specifications so we’re not expecting any massive steps forwards or backwards just because this is a Creator focused motherboard. Probably the biggest highlights are; the use of the affordable DDR4 instead of the expensive DDR5, particularly when you need the kind of capacities that creators utilise. Capacity > Speed when rendering. The other big key element of the ProArt is twin LAN ports, 1G and 2.5G. Handy to have. But let’s look at it in the flesh.
