ASUS ROG Strix B760-F WiFi Preview
Up Close
The Strix packaging, like the main ROG brand packaging, has seen a fair few revisions, especially in recent times. With the move to have red and blue colouring as the main Strix identity the B760 box reflects this, and we have to say it’s probably our favourite design they’ve had. It apes the main ROG products but still has enough of the unique Strix flair to catch your attention and still be its own thing.
We’ll be looking at everything in more detail as we go along, but it never hurts to get a good overview of the motherboard. After all, close ups are handy for the fine detail, but when you’ve built your rig and most of it is hidden in darkness or behind RGB lighting then it’s nice to get a feel for the whole thing. The Strix B760-F continues the trend of utilising old games as pixel art, as well as sticking to the new blue and red accents that would perfectly match your new Strix GPU.
There has been a big debate in the office about the latest Strix design. The last one came with Pacman on it, but this is less clear. The ships, which you can see on the photo below this one, remind us of Moon Cresta, but eggs were very much a Phoenix thing. Taito are a different company to Namco, so are ASUS on board with all the late 70s arcade manufacturers? Is it actually Bosconian? There is a G but neither Galaxians or Galaga had cherries or eggs that we remember. Let us know which game you think the Strix B760-F is representing in our forums.
As people who publically hated the glitchy Strix logo we used to have to put up with, we love the Pixel retro aesthetic in parts of the Strix design. They perfectly counter the hyper-modern blue and red colour scheme. It’s an attractive motherboard.
At the top left we have a 4+8 pin ATX 12V to keep your Raptor Lake CPU fed with power. You can also see ASUS have kept with their chunky heatsinks that have diagonal slashes through them. It’s nice to keep a theme across your products.
The right hand side of PCBs is always the busiest and the B760-F has the CPU fans, DDR5 slots that support up to 7800 MHz and two of the RGB headers that make up the AURA ecosystem.
