Because we’ve already looked at the Gaming 7 and Gaming 9 we have to confess we were slightly disappointed with the accessories included in the Ultra Gaming. As so many of the Z270 motherboards have near identical features it is in the software and the accessories that a manufacturer can really make their product stand out from the rest, but the Ultra Gaming just has the regular selection of SATA cables and adaptors.

Fortunately that is the only real area that is a minor let down, as the packaging looks spectacular and once you’ve freed the motherboard from its anti-static bag it is difficult not to be impressed by the looks. The combination of all black with a few scattered chrome highlights in the form of the PCI Express armour and the DDR4 reinforcement really makes it pop. The heatsink design can often make or break a motherboard, and with the Ultra Gaming Gigabyte have gone for a very classy looking sloped arrangement. The chipset heatsink is reminiscent of a supercar with its slats and slopes, whilst the power phase into IO heatsink which is becoming all the rage is smooth and crisp. Very nice.
