Whilst certain tests, as we’ve seen so far, prefer cores to clock speed, others utilise all available performance to complete the task as quickly as possible. One such application is x265 video encoding, where the six cores of the i7-8700K handily best the 8 cores of the Ryzen 7 1800X, and also scale almost linearly with the performance we saw from the i7-7700K.
